Gladiator A.D.!!

There are a few things that are universally recognized as enjoyable and cool by men everywhere: violence, gore, explosions, and women. When you take a movie or game and combine any number of the above you’ve got a recipe for greatness. If you can somehow manage to get all four of the ingredients in, you’re approaching legendary status. If you ever saw the film “300″ then you know that Zack Snyder is a legend. The team at High Voltage Studios are already on their way to the hall of legends, and look to get one step closer with the release of “Gladiator A.D.” sometime early next year. In the studio’s latest release you’ll play as a gladiator in ancient Rome and will do battle with other gladiators and various foes on your way to the upper echelon of warriors. The gladiators will come from different backgrounds and will therefore sport various weapons and fighting techniques. It wouldn’t be a fighting game if you couldn’t use the environment to vanquish your rivals, and “A.D.” promises that sort of interaction, including the opportunity to throw opponents to the lions! The team at High Voltage is using an improved version of the Quantum3 engine that they are using on “The Conduit”, so you can trust that this game will look amazing. I’m going to take it one step further and present evidence that the game looks great, even in what has to be a fairly early build. The very first gameplay videos of Gladiator A.D. have been released, and they are absolutely fantastic. For anyone out there who doesn’t know the name High Voltage Studios, you will very soon as they look to reshape we play games on the Wii. Enjoy the videos below.

FYI, these videos have to be early on in development and you can count on them improving drastically. If you have any doubts about that, just check out this video that shows improvements the team made on The Conduit from early builds to a game they’ll want to put out.
