Swords, Toasters and Bigs!!

I know, it’s been a minute and I apologize. Classes just started, works been a tad hectic and we are frantically searching for a house. I’m not one for excuses, but that’s what I got. Do not fret though my babies (had to invoke Conan!), I have come bearing gifts.

Swords & Soldiers is a super-good game that was released on WiiWare this week. It’s a side-scrolling RTS (real time strategy) game, developed and published by Ronimo Games. This is a new company, but most of the team worked on the smash hit, de Blob. Yeah, these guys are coming with pedigree. S&S has it all: style, wit, humor, multiplayer modes, and an insane amount of fun. This game may have been flying under the radar and that’s a shame. If you’re in the mood for a game that is unlike almost anything else, then give Swords & Soldiers a go. Allow the trailer below to convince you.

Could I put anything up that may be more strange than a side-scrolling RTS developed for the Wii? You bet I could. Eduardo the Samurai Toaster may be as quirky as it gets. This game uses artwork from several different styles and mediums including pen, acrylic, and charcoal. Sticking with the Side-Scrolling theme of the day, Eduardo is an uber-fast paced shooter. It also sports 4-player drop in co-op. Oh, you also get to kill maniacal mangos and crazy carrots. Do you want more? Then check the video below and be prepared to buy Eduardo the Samurai Toaster when it hits WiiWare next week.

I know what you’re thinking, there is no way Mike can top the insanity that is a Samurai Toaster. You should never doubt me. The next gem I have for you comes from the wonderful world of….Baseball!!! That’s right, America’s Pastime is back on the Wii, not that it ever really left. The Bigs 2 takes baseball and turns it on its head. Let’s just say that A-Rod, Manny, and Barry Bonds would be right at home in this slugfest. The Bigs 2 promises to be bigger and more insane than its forefather, and that is a great thing. You’re gonna get ridiculous catches, amazing home-runs, stupidly fast pitching, and much more. This is what baseball would be like if HGH was legal and came combined with Red Bull. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? Check the trailer below and start holding your breath for The Bigs 2, which drops on July 7.
